About Eugène Boudin Museum
The Eugène Boudin Museum occupies a former Augustinian chapel in Honfleur's historic center, housing over 2,500 artworks with the world's third-largest collection of works by the town's native son Eugène Boudin. Founded in 1868 by painter Alexandre Dubourg with Boudin's support, the museum displays 105 pieces by Boudin including 50 paintings and 55 drawings, alongside works by Monet, Courbet, Jongkind, and Dufy. The collection spans pre-Impressionist and Impressionist art with particular focus on Norman landscapes and coastal scenes that influenced the birth of Impressionism.

Eugène Boudin was the son of a harbor pilot and started his artistic career as a stationer in Le Havre, where he met artists whose works he framed. His shop became a meeting place for painters, and customers encouraged him to pursue art. Without formal training until age 22, he became a key figure in the development of Impressionism.
