About François Mitterrand Botanical Garden
5-hectare hillside botanical garden in the heart of Évreux, created from a former Capuchin monastery garden dating back to at least 1833. The garden features a stunning tropical greenhouse renovated in 2018 with bioclimatic architecture, housing over 400 plant species from five continents including bananas, papayas, and exotic ferns across 169 square meters of space. Visitors can explore winding paths through the sloping terrain, discover classical bronze statues from Bizy including Antinous and Diana the Huntress, and visit a preserved 19th-century ice house and orangery.
