About House of Times Past
The Maison du Temps Jadis is one of Vernon's oldest and most picturesque half-timbered houses, dating from the late 15th century (circa 1450-1460). This beautifully preserved medieval building features distinctive triple corbelling where each floor projects outward, classic Norman timber-frame construction, and elegant mullioned windows typical of the period. The corner post displays a remarkable carved Annunciation scene depicting the Virgin Mary and Angel Gabriel, a sculptural treasure that has survived for over five centuries.

The building miraculously survived the devastating Allied bombings of June 1940 that destroyed much of Vernon's historic center during World War II. While many surrounding medieval structures were reduced to rubble, this 15th-century house remained standing, making it one of the few authentic medieval buildings still existing in the town today.
