About Musée Bossuet
Housed in the former episcopal palace dating back to the 12th century, the Musée Bossuet is the art and history museum of Meaux. Named after Jacques-Bénigne Bossuet, the celebrated orator and theologian who served as Bishop of Meaux from 1681 to 1704, the museum forms part of the remarkable Cité Épiscopale alongside the Cathedral of Saint-Étienne and the elegant formal gardens.

The Bossuet Garden surrounding the museum features a topiary layout shaped like a bishop's mitre. Created in the 17th century under Bishop Dominique Séguier, this whimsical design pays tribute to the palace's ecclesiastical origins and was opened to the public as a city park in 1911.
