About Saint-Julien Church
Saint-Julien Church is a striking neo-Byzantine church built 1924-1926, designed by architect Albert Guilbert. One of the first churches in France constructed with reinforced concrete using the Hennebique system, it features four massive semicircular arches spanning 20 meters each, supporting an octagonal bell tower rising 53 meters. The interior showcases Art Deco mosaics by Jean Gaudin, including a Christ Pantocrator in the apse and an altar decorated with two peacocks.

The architect Albert Guilbert previously designed the Armenian Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in Paris (1902-1904), which explains the distinctive Armenian architectural influences visible in this Norman church. The similar use of centrally-planned buildings with domes creates an unexpected connection between Armenian and French religious architecture.
