About Church of Sainte-Radegonde de Giverny
This 11th-century Romanesque church is one of the rare surviving examples of its kind in Normandy, featuring an original semicircular apse with distinctive half-dome vaulting and medieval corbels depicting grotesque figures. The building was significantly modified during the 15th and 16th centuries, adding Renaissance and Flamboyant Gothic side aisles with elegant mullioned windows. Most notably, this is the final resting place of Claude Monet, who lived in Giverny for 43 years until his death in 1926 and was married in this very church.

Saint Radegonde, to whom this church is dedicated, was a 6th-century Frankish queen who became a nun after fleeing her murderous husband King Clotaire I. According to local legend, she had the miraculous power to cure scabies, which made this church a pilgrimage destination for those seeking healing throughout the medieval period.
