About Rambouillet Church of Saint-Lubin and Saint-Jean-Baptiste
Standing proudly on Place Jeanne d'Arc in the heart of Rambouillet, the Church of Saint-Lubin and Saint-Jean-Baptiste is a striking neo-Gothic edifice built between 1868 and 1871. Designed by architect Anatole de Baudot, a gifted pupil of Viollet-le-Duc, the church replaced a medieval predecessor damaged by lightning in 1801. Its construction was partly funded by Napoleon III's personal treasury, making it a monument tied to both local history and the French imperial era.
