About Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy
The Memorial Museum of the Battle of Normandy presents the complete 77-day military campaign that followed D-Day, from June 7 to August 29, 1944. Inaugurated in 1981 on Boulevard Fabian Ware—a road built by British Royal Engineers during the liberation—the museum spans 2,300 square meters with chronological exhibits covering each phase of the battle. Displays include restored Allied and German military vehicles, an 88mm Flak anti-aircraft gun, uniforms, weapons, and archive photographs.

The nearby Bayeux Memorial features a Latin inscription that reads: 'Nos A Gulielmo Victi Victoris Patriam Liberavimus' - meaning 'We, once conquered by William, have now set free the Conqueror's native land.' This phrase connects William the Conqueror's 1066 invasion of England with the 1944 Allied liberation of Normandy, creating a powerful historical symmetry spanning nearly 900 years.
