About Museum of Ethnography and Norman Popular Art
This ethnography museum occupies a 16th-century timber-framed house built around 1586-1587, which later served as the prison of the Vicomté de Roncheville. Founded in 1896 by the Société du Vieux-Honfleur, it was one of the first provincial ethnography museums in France. The self-guided tour leads through 9 furnished rooms recreating Norman life from the 16th to 20th centuries: a mercer's shop, cooper's workshop, weaver's room, printer's workshop, and domestic spaces including a bourgeois salon and sailor's dining room.
