Château de Villesavin in Tour-en-Sologne

Discover Château de Villesavin, built in the 1530s by the same French and Italian craftsmen who constructed nearby Chambord. The estate offers a Renaissance dovecote with 1,500 nesting holes and its original revolving ladder, a chapel adorned with 16th-century frescoes and stained glass depicting scenes from Ovid's Metamorphoses, and a Carrara marble fountain in the central courtyard. On-site museums — including a Wedding Museum and a Carriage Museum — add depth to the visit, while a small farm and honeybee garden round out the grounds. The château is open from March 1 to November 15, with a midday break (12:00–14:00) outside peak summer; booking the guided interior tour is recommended to see the furnished rooms.
