About Former Menier Chocolate Factory
The Former Menier Chocolate Factory in Noisiel is one of France's most remarkable industrial heritage sites, standing on the banks of the Marne river about 20 km east of Paris. Founded in 1825 by pharmacist Antoine Brutus Menier, the site grew into the world's largest chocolate factory, producing half of all chocolate consumed in France by 1900 with 2,200 workers manufacturing 70 tonnes daily.
