About Galerie Vivienne
Galerie Vivienne is a 19th-century glass-roofed covered passage in Paris's 2nd arrondissement, built in 1823 by architect François-Jean Delannoy. The 176-metre L-shaped arcade features neoclassical Pompeian-style decoration with stucco reliefs, painted panels, gilded ironwork, and a rotunda with a glass dome at the intersection of its two wings. The intricate geometric mosaic floors, added in 1880 by Italian craftsman Giandomenico Facchina, are among the most photographed features in Paris.

The mosaic floors were added 57 years after the gallery opened. Created in 1880 by Giandomenico Facchina — the same Italian craftsman who made the mosaics for the Paris Opera — they feature warm gold, terracotta, and marble geometric patterns that have become one of the most photographed surfaces in Paris.
