About Jérôme Carcopino Municipal Library
The Jérôme Carcopino Municipal Library is housed in a remarkable late 15th-century Renaissance house classified as a Historic Monument, featuring a distinctive turret and checkerboard facade of stone, brick, and flint. Named after the renowned historian Jérôme Carcopino (1881-1970), who was born in Verneuil-sur-Avre and became a member of the Académie française, the library preserves nearly 7,000 rare volumes from the 17th-19th centuries alongside a modern collection of books, DVDs, and CDs. Visitors can admire the historic architecture while browsing the collections, and the library offers internet access, multimedia facilities, and regular cultural events including story hours and workshops.
