About L'Aigle Saint Martin Church
Église Saint-Martin in L'Aigle is an 11th-century church that showcases five distinct architectural periods from Romanesque to contemporary. Founded by the Lords of L'Aigle, it expanded through the Gothic Flamboyant and Renaissance eras, surviving a sacking during the Wars of Religion in 1567. After WWII bombing destroyed the southern windows in 1944, the church became a pioneering example of integrating contemporary art into historic monuments.
