The project's original budget was 100 million euros. By the time construction finished in 2014, the final cost had ballooned to approximately 780-800 million euros, nearly eight times the initial estimate. Engineers spent over 1.5 million hours of study modeling the building, and 30 patents were filed specifically for the construction techniques used.
