About Arc de Triomphe
The Arc de Triomphe stands majestically at the western end of the Champs-Élysées, at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve grand avenues converge in a star pattern. Commissioned by Napoleon in 1806 to honor the victories of the French armies, this iconic monument took 30 years to complete and has since become one of the most recognizable symbols of Paris and France.
