About Jacquemart-André Museum
The Jacquemart-André Museum occupies a lavish 19th-century mansion on Boulevard Haussmann, built between 1869 and 1876 by architect Henri Parent for banker and art collector Édouard André. After marrying portrait painter Nélie Jacquemart in 1881, the couple spent over a decade traveling Europe and acquiring works spanning the Italian Renaissance, Dutch Golden Age, and French 18th century. The collection includes paintings by Botticelli, Mantegna, Rembrandt, and Fragonard, alongside period furniture, tapestries, and decorative objects displayed in their original setting.

Édouard André owned several large tapestries before commissioning the mansion. Architect Henri Parent designed the room dimensions specifically to fit these tapestries — the house was built around the art, not the other way around.
