About Pont des Arts
The Pont des Arts is a 155-meter pedestrian footbridge crossing the Seine in central Paris, connecting the Louvre on the north bank to the Institut de France on the south bank. First built between 1801 and 1804 under Napoleon Bonaparte's orders, it was Paris's first metal bridge and first pedestrian-only crossing. The original cast-iron structure had 9 arches and was designed as a "hanging garden" with trees, flower beds, and benches over the river.

From €16 / person — all tickets and transport included — transit route with total cost breakdown
When the Pont des Arts opened in 1804, Parisians paid one sou (a small copper coin) to cross it. The novelty of walking over a metal bridge drew such crowds that the toll generated significant revenue for the city in its first years.
