About Trouville Lighthouse and Jetty
The Trouville Lighthouse stands at the end of the Jean-Claude Brize Jetty, marking the eastern entrance to the ports of Trouville and Deauville. The original lighthouse dates from 1860 and was designed as part of a series of prefabricated metal lighthouses associated with Gustave Eiffel's engineering innovations. The current structure is a post-World War II reconstruction completed in 1964 after the original was destroyed during the war.

In 1868, Gustave Eiffel partnered with engineer Louis Sautter to patent improvements in iron lighthouse tower construction. The Trouville lighthouse belongs to a series of prefabricated metal lighthouses from this collaboration. Of the twelve small metal lighthouses Eiffel was commissioned to build for the French coast, only five examples of this type remain standing today.
