About Botanical Garden of Bayeux
6-hectare landscape park was designed by the Bühler brothers in 1859 and opened to the public in 1864. The land was donated by naturalist Charlemagne Jean-Delamare along with 28,000 francs to create a horticultural education space. Today the garden features around 400 trees including Japanese Pagoda Trees, Giant Sequoias, and Golden Rain Trees.

The Weeping Beech won the People's Choice Award for "Tree of the Year 2023" in France with 8,051 votes. Botanists still debate its exact classification - it has the trunk of a common beech but branches resembling the twisted Fau de Verzy variety, making it potentially unique in Europe.
