About Cathedral of Saint-Louis of Versailles
The Cathédrale Saint-Louis de Versailles is a magnificent example of French Baroque architecture, built between 1743 and 1754 under the direction of Jacques Hardouin-Mansart de Sagonne, grandson of the famed architect of the Palace of Versailles. Commissioned by King Louis XV as the centrepiece of the planned Saint-Louis district, the cathedral features an imposing classical facade with Doric and Corinthian columns, a soaring 65-metre dome crowned with a gilded cross, and a richly decorated interior stretching 93 metres in length.

This family connection makes the cathedral a direct architectural descendant of the palace itself.
