About Gallery of Coaches
The Gallery of Coaches (Galerie des Carrosses) is housed in the King's Great Stables (Grande Écurie du Roi), facing the Palace of Versailles across the Place d'Armes. This remarkable museum spans approximately 1,000 square meters across two grand vaulted galleries, showcasing one of Europe's most impressive collections of royal and imperial horse-drawn vehicles. The collection includes ceremonial Berlin coaches commissioned for Napoleon I's marriage to Marie-Louise of Austria in 1810, Charles X's ornate coronation carriage from 1825, and presidential carriages from the Third Republic.
