About Azay-le-Ferron Castle
Azay-le-Ferron Castle is a composite estate built across three centuries, combining four distinct wings from the late 15th to the 18th century. The oldest section, the Tour Frotier, dates to around 1496, while later additions include a Renaissance pavilion bearing the emblems of François I and a Baroque wing from 1638. The interior preserves 15 furnished rooms left largely as the last private owners arranged them, with Empire-period furniture, Aubusson tapestries, a Baccarat crystal chandelier, and a painted ceiling transported from a private mansion in Versailles.
