About Grande Rue of Barbizon
The Grande Rue de Barbizon is the historic main street of Barbizon, a charming village on the edge of the Fontainebleau forest in Seine-et-Marne. This picturesque road stretches through the heart of the village and served as the epicenter of the renowned Barbizon school of painting from the 1830s to the 1870s. Artists such as Jean-François Millet, Théodore Rousseau, and Narcisse Díaz de la Peña lived and worked in studios along this very street, creating masterpieces that would later influence the entire Impressionist movement.
