About Stade de France
The Stade de France is France's national stadium and the largest sports venue in the country, with a seating capacity of over 80,000. Built for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in the northern Parisian suburb of Saint-Denis, this architectural marvel features a distinctive elliptical roof spanning 6 hectares, suspended 42 meters above the pitch. The stadium has hosted some of the most iconic moments in French sporting history, including the 1998 World Cup final where France lifted the trophy on home soil.

The stadium was built on a former gasworks site that required extensive decontamination before construction could begin. Over 300,000 cubic metres of polluted soil had to be removed and treated, making it one of the largest environmental remediation projects in French history at the time.
