About Château de Chamerolles
Château de Chamerolles is a Renaissance castle built around 1520 by Lancelot I du Lac, chamberlain to King Louis XII, in the commune of Chilleurs-aux-Bois in the Loiret department. The castle follows a quadrilateral plan with cylindrical corner towers and a moated entrance, blending French and Italian architectural styles that Lancelot brought back from his military campaigns in Italy. Inside, the Promenade des Parfums museum traces the history of perfumery and hygiene from the 16th century to today through period-furnished rooms and a collection of roughly 800 perfume bottles, including pieces by Lalique, Baccarat, and Daum.
