About Château de Plaisir
The Château de Plaisir is a 17th-century castle built around 1620 by Paul Le Tellier, physician and royal counselor to Louis XIII. The central body follows the Louis XIII architectural style, while two lateral wings and a chapel were added between 1700 and 1711. Listed as a Historic Monument since 1961 and a classified site since 1946, the château now serves as a municipal cultural center housing a media library, a conservatory of music and dance, and the Théâtre Robert Manuel.

The first recorded owner of the Plaisir estate was Jacques de Montmort, who purchased the land from the chattelaine of Neauphle-le-Château in 1415 — the same year as the Battle of Agincourt. At that time, only a simple manor stood on the grounds.
