About Plaisir Saint Peter's Church
The Church of Saint Peter in Plaisir dates back to the 13th century, with origins tied to a Benedictine priory attested as early as the 8th century. The main construction phase took place around 1260-1263, financed by Elisabeth de Buc, producing the bell tower, choir, and Chapel of the Virgin. The building grew through centuries of additions — a 14th-century pentagonal apse, a 16th-century seigneurial chapel, and the Chapel of Saint Julienne built in 1710-1714.

During the 2012-2013 restoration, workers discovered three lead heart-shaped reliquaries sealed inside a wall of the Saint-Nicolas chapel. These containers held the preserved hearts of members of the Guillot family, following an 18th-century aristocratic custom of burying a person's heart separately from the body in a place of personal significance.
