About Thoiry ZooSafari
Thoiry ZooSafari (now officially Wow Safari Thoiry) is a combined drive-through safari park and walking zoo set within a 150-hectare estate about 45 km west of Paris. Opened in 1968 as France's first safari park, the concept reverses the traditional zoo model: visitors stay enclosed in their cars while animals roam freely across open terrain. The drive-through route takes about an hour and passes through zones populated by elephants, rhinoceroses, giraffes, zebras, bears, wolves, and various African and North American species.

RecommendedFull access to drive-through safari and walking zoo. Children 3-10: 25 EUR. Early-bird tickets (7+ days in advance): 30 EUR adult, 21 EUR child, 18 EUR disabled. Last entry at 16:00. Visitors arriving after 14:00 may not complete both circuits.

VIP Safari Experience
Private guided safari with park entry included. Available Sundays only. Minimum age 15, maximum 6 people per group. Reservation required.

The Chateau de Thoiry on the same estate was built between 1559 and 1564 by architect Philibert de l'Orme for Raoul Moreau, treasurer to King Henri II. The building was designed with precise solar alignment: on both solstices, the sun rises and sets exactly along the central axis of the vestibule, creating a corridor of light through the entire structure. The proportions follow the golden ratio and sacred geometry principles.
