About Château de Saint-Brisson-sur-Loire
A medieval fortress overlooking the Loire valley, built on a promontory that has been fortified since the 11th century. The current stone structure dates from around 1180, featuring an unusual hexagonal enclosure with alternating round and square towers but no central keep. The Séguier family acquired the castle in 1567 and transformed it from a military stronghold into a comfortable Renaissance residence, adding furnished rooms and an elaborate timber roof frame.
