About Museum of Two Waterways and the Canal Bridge
Located on Boulevard Buyser in Briare, this conservatory museum opened in 1996 to document the town's unique position at the junction of the Loire River, the Canal de Briare (1642), and the Canal latéral à la Loire (1838). Six themed rooms trace the history of river and canal navigation from antiquity through the industrial era, covering the traditions of Loire boatmen and the later canal workers. Exhibits include reconstructed quays, period documents, artisan workshop recreations, and a 17-metre aquarium wall showcasing live Loire River fish species.
