Provins Holy Cross Church, Provins

A 12th-century Gothic church in the lower town (Ville-Basse) of Provins, named after a relic of the True Cross brought back from the Holy Land by Count Thibaud IV of Champagne in 1241. A major fire in 1309 destroyed much of the original structure, and the church was rebuilt through the 14th-16th centuries in Flamboyant Gothic style. The Renaissance main portal, 16th-century stained-glass windows, and ribbed vaulted nave are its most notable features.
