About L'Arcatène - Helyett Museum
L'Arcatène is a private cycling and motorcycle museum housed in the original Helyett bicycle factory in Sully-sur-Loire. The Helyett brand, founded by Alphonse Picard in 1900, produced up to 12,000 bicycles per year at its peak and sponsored professional cycling teams for three decades. The collection includes around 30 Helyett bicycles and motorcycles, a velocipede from 1860, post-war mopeds, and a rare motorized tandem from the 1940s.

The brand name "Helyett" was inspired by a 19th-century French operetta called "Miss Helyett" by Maxime Boucheron and Edmond Audran. Raymond Picard's wife suggested the name after being charmed by the show, and the trademark Helyett-Picard Frères was registered in 1919.
