About Prasline House - Mazet
Maison de la Prasline is a historic confectionery boutique in the center of Montargis, operated by Mazet Confiseur since 1903. The shop sells the Prasline de Montargis, a caramelized almond confection created in 1636 by Clément Jaluzot, chef to the Maréchal du Plessis-Praslin — considered the oldest candy recipe still in production in France. The boutique interior dates from 1903 and features preserved period decor that visitors frequently compare to a film set.

The word "praline" used worldwide in chocolate and confectionery comes directly from the name of César de Choiseul, Comte du Plessis-Praslin. His family name was adopted for the confection, entered the French language as a common noun, and spread to Belgian, Swiss, and American chocolatiers — all tracing back to this single 17th-century recipe from Montargis.
