About Victor Hugo Footbridge
A graceful metal pedestrian footbridge spanning the Canal de Briare in Montargis, built in 1891 by the Entreprise Eiffel — the same engineering firm behind the Eiffel Tower. The bridge features a distinctive rainbow-arch profile that rises in a pronounced curve, with roughly twenty steps on each side. It connects Boulevard Durzy to Boulevard des Belles Manières and offers views along the canal in both directions.

The bridge was built by the Entreprise Eiffel just two years after the Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889. Locals sometimes call it 'le Pont Eiffel' in honour of its builder, and the construction year 1891 is carved into the stonework on the Boulevard Durzy side.
