International Stained-Glass Centre, Chartres

The International Stained-Glass Centre occupies the Cellier de Loëns, a Gothic cellar built around 1200 as a tithe storehouse for the Cathedral Chapter of Chartres. Located 50 metres from Chartres Cathedral, it is the only institution in France combining a stained-glass museum, professional training centre, and educational school under one roof. The permanent collection displays 70 original Renaissance stained-glass panels, while a pedagogical room helps visitors decode the iconography of the cathedral's 176 medieval windows.
