School Museum of Chartres, Chartres

The School Museum of Chartres occupies rooms inside the École de la Brèche, a working primary school on Place Drouaise. Founded in 1975 by former school director André Thoby and teacher-historian Roger Joly, it preserves the educational history of the Eure-et-Loir department through thousands of original artifacts. The centerpiece is a fully recreated rural classroom from 1900, complete with inclined wooden desks, inkwells, slates, a teacher's platform, and a Godin wood-burning stove.
