About Lambinet Museum
The Musée Lambinet is the municipal museum of art and history of Versailles, housed in an elegant 18th-century private mansion built in 1751-1752 by architect Elie Blanchard. The museum spans 35 rooms across three floors, showcasing fine arts, decorative objects, sculptures, and paintings from the Renaissance to the 19th century. The first floor features beautifully preserved period rooms with original gilded woodwork and furnishings recreating an authentic 18th-century apartment, including works by celebrated sculptor Jean-Antoine Houdon, who was born in Versailles.

The Hôtel Lambinet was built in 1751-1752, nearly 180 years before it became a museum. Much of the original interior decoration on the first floor, including a gilded salon, survives intact. The facade and roof have been classified as a Monument Historique since 1944.
