About Matra Automobile Museum
A municipal museum spread across 3,000 square metres in a former Beaulieu camera factory, dedicated to the Matra automobile brand that manufactured cars in Romorantin-Lanthenay from 1964 to 2003. The exhibition is organized into three sections: motorsport history featuring Formula 1 cars and Le Mans 24 Hours winners, the industrial story of Matra's production line including the Djet, Bagheera, Murena, and all three generations of the Renault Espace, and an innovation gallery with experimental prototypes. Among the standout exhibits is the Espace F1, a one-of-a-kind concept that fits a Formula 1 engine into a Renault Espace body.
