About Olivier Debré Contemporary Art Centre
The CCC OD is a contemporary art center in Tours dedicated to the work and legacy of abstract painter Olivier Debré (1920-1999), who had deep ties to the Loire Valley. The institution dates back to 1985, but moved into its current building designed by Portuguese architects Aires Mateus in 2017 — their first project in France. The building features a striking design where a white stone volume appears to float above a transparent glass ground floor, overlooking the Loire riverfront.

The five monumental canvases by Debré that form the core of the collection were all created for a single 1991 exhibition. Each measures 4 by 9.15 meters — so large that the donation of these works was the direct catalyst for building an entirely new center to house them.
