About Ronsard Park
Parc Ronsard occupies the Île Paradis, a river island formed by two branches of the Loir in the historic center of Vendôme. The site has been a cultivated garden since at least 1282, making it one of France's longest-documented garden spaces. Named after Renaissance poet Pierre de Ronsard, who was born nearby and spent his final years in Vendôme, the park was only opened to the public in 1980 after centuries as a private garden for religious orders and educational institutions.

The washhouse in the park, known as the Lavoir des Cordeliers, is considered one of the only surviving two-level washhouses in France that was built exclusively for a religious community rather than for public use. It dates back to the 15th century and was restored by the local heritage association Résurgence.
