About Château d'Anet
Château d'Anet is a 16th-century Renaissance château built between 1547 and 1552 by architect Philibert de l'Orme for Diane de Poitiers, the powerful mistress of King Henry II of France. The original complex included three wings surrounding a grand courtyard, but much of the structure was destroyed during the French Revolution — only one wing and the entrance pavilion survive today. Visitors explore the remaining interiors on a guided tour lasting about one hour, seeing Diane de Poitiers' ornate bed, period furniture, Flemish and Gobelins tapestries, and a dining room with a monumental fireplace bearing her coat of arms.
