About Dreux Church of Saint Peter
The Church of Saint Peter is a Flamboyant Gothic parish church in Dreux, 79 metres long, with construction spanning from the early 13th century to the early 17th century. The western facade, designed by Clément Métézeau in 1524, blends late Gothic and Renaissance elements, with two asymmetrical towers — the north tower rises 36 metres while the south tower was left unfinished due to the Wars of Religion. Inside, 39 stained glass windows classified as Historic Monuments cover five centuries of glassmaking, from 15th-century saints in the choir to a 19th-century Tree of Jesse.

During the French Revolution, the church's choir was seized and converted into a saltpeter factory for gunpowder production. Furnishings, sculptures, and decorations were destroyed. The building was not returned to religious use until 1802, over a decade later.
