About L'Art[T]senal Contemporary Art Center
L'ar[T]senal is a contemporary art center in Dreux, housed in a former fire brigade headquarters built between 1902 and 1903 by architect Eugène-Édouard Avard. After serving as a covered market from the 1960s until 2002, the building was rehabilitated and reopened as an art space in 2012. The center is jointly managed by the City of Dreux and the Eure-et-Loir Department, and the building is listed on the supplementary inventory of French historic monuments.

The name "ar[T]senal" is a deliberate wordplay: the bracketed letter T highlights both "Arsenal" (referencing the institutional style of the building) and "Art", embedding the center's purpose directly into its name. Despite the military connotation, the building never actually served as a weapons arsenal — it was a fire station.
