About Château de Talcy
The Château de Talcy is a 16th-century fortified manor in the Beauce region of the Loire Valley, purchased by Florentine banker Bernard Salviati in 1517. Unlike the lavish Renaissance palaces being built nearby at Chambord and Chenonceau, Salviati chose an intentionally austere medieval style with defensive towers, thick walls, and minimal ornamentation. The estate is closely tied to French literary history: the poet Pierre de Ronsard fell in love with Salviati's daughter Cassandre in 1545 and immortalised her in his collection Les Amours.

Two members of the Salviati family inspired two of France's greatest Renaissance poets across two generations. Cassandre Salviati was the muse of Pierre de Ronsard, who wrote the celebrated ode "Mignonne, allons voir si la rose..." about her. A generation later, her niece Diane Salviati became the muse of Agrippa d'Aubigné. No other French château has this double poetic lineage within one family.
