About FRAC Centre-Val de Loire
FRAC Centre-Val de Loire is a regional contemporary art and experimental architecture center housed in a converted 18th-century military depot in Orléans. The collection focuses on architecture from 1950 onward and holds around 1,000 architectural models, over 16,000 drawings, and roughly 1,000 artworks — one of the most significant architecture collections in the world. The building gained its distinctive identity in 2013 when architects Jakob + MacFarlane added three biomorphic glass-and-metal structures called 'Les Turbulences' that rise from the historic courtyard.
