About Joan of Arc's House
The Maison de Jeanne d'Arc is a reconstructed 15th-century half-timbered house on Place du Général de Gaulle in Orléans, standing on the site where Joan of Arc stayed from April 29 to May 9, 1429, during the siege of Orléans. The original house belonged to Jacques Boucher, Treasurer-General of the Duke of Orléans, and was destroyed by German bombing in June 1940. The current building was rebuilt between 1961 and 1965 under the patronage of André Malraux, following traditional construction methods.

Joan of Arc's stay in this house lasted only 10 days — from April 29 to May 9, 1429 — yet during that brief period she organized and led the military campaign that broke the seven-month English siege of Orleans, one of the most decisive short campaigns in medieval European warfare.
